Gavril Hing is a Singapore and Hong Kong-based filmmaker with a passion for narrative-driven advertising. His journey into filmmaking began with a clear aspiration to become a director, leading him to connect with renowned Hong Kong director David Tsui, famous for his iconic commercials since the 1970s. At just 22, Gavril relocated to Hong Kong, where he became Tsui’s assistant director, spending the next four years honing his craft under Tsui’s tutelage.
Gavril’s trilingual abilities allowed him to be deeply involved in all aspects of production, quickly making him a versatile and skilled assistant director. His experience spans across a wide range of projects, where he developed a strong understanding of storytelling, production dynamics, and the intricacies of commercial filmmaking.
Recently, Gavril has begun his transition into the role of Director. Perhaps most influenced by his mentor, Gavril’s keen observational eye to relationships, the human spirit, and life in general compels him to tell moments that are both personal and relatable.
